Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. We use them sparingly. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or any third-party cookie that builds a profile of your browsing behavior outside of laymen.com.
What we use cookies for
Essential functionality
Some cookies are necessary for the site to work. These include session tokens that keep you authenticated (once login is available) and security tokens that protect form submissions from forgery. Without these, the site cannot function. You cannot opt out of essential cookies while using the site.
Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics to understand how people use the site — which pages are viewed, where visitors come from, and how the site performs. Vercel Analytics is designed with privacy as a priority:
- It does not use cross-site tracking cookies.
- It anonymizes IP addresses — we never see your full IP.
- It does not build a behavioral profile tied to you as an individual.
- It does not share data with advertising networks or data brokers.
The analytics data we receive is aggregate: page views, device types, browser versions, and general geographic regions. It cannot be used to identify you.
What we don't use
- Advertising cookies. We have not installed any ad network pixels, retargeting scripts, or conversion-tracking tags from Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, or any other ad platform.
- Cross-site tracking. We do not track you across other websites.
- Third-party social widgets. We do not embed social media plugins that set their own cookies when you visit our pages.
Cookie inventory
The following is a complete list of the cookies and similar storage mechanisms this site may set:
First-party cookies set by laymen.com
- __vercel_live_token — Set by Vercel for preview deployments only (not visible in production). Scoped to the session. Not set in production.
- Session cookies (Next.js) — Short-lived session identifiers used to maintain state within a single browsing session. These expire when you close your browser.
First-party storage set by Vercel Analytics
- Vercel Analytics — Uses anonymized, first-party measurement that does not set persistent cross-session cookies in standard configuration. No personally identifiable information is stored.
How to control cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. The links below take you to the instructions for the most common browsers:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
Deleting or blocking essential cookies will prevent parts of the site from working correctly. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use the site.
Changes to this policy
If we add new cookies or change how we use existing ones, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date. For material changes — such as adding advertising cookies — we will notify you by email.
